Not too large, not too small, but just right. That’s a big consideration when shopping for a new or used motorhome. You want enough space for sleeping and lounging comfortably, but you also don’t want something so large that it’s tough to drive and nearly impossible to find campsites you’ll fit in.
This is where choosing between Class A, B, and C motorhomes comes into play. But have you heard of Class B+ RVs? It’s a unique category designed to provide the perfect middle ground, something we know Goldilocks would love.

ToggleWhat is a Class B+ RV?
Some manufacturers label these units Class Bs, and others call them Class Cs. There’s a bit of a gray area here because many models include a cabover area for extra sleeping space or storage, which is a hallmark feature of Class C RVs.
However, many of these smaller cabover campers are built on the same kinds of van chassis that Class B RVs are built on, such as the Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter. That’s why they’re a bit of a hybrid camper.
Why Choose a Class B+ RV?
Class B+ RVs provide similar maneuverability and fuel economy compared to traditional class B RVs. However, they are slightly larger and generally feature more interior space for living and sleeping, making them more comfortable for longer trips or family campouts.
One feature that sets Class B+ RVs apart from most Class B camper vans is the presence of at least one slide-out. That feature makes a huge difference in the amount of interior space you’ll enjoy once you’re parked and your slide-out is extended.
Most RV slide-outs extend 2-3 feet from your RV’s exterior walls, depending on the manufacturer. With a slide-out that measures 10 feet long, for example, that increases your interior living space by as much as 30 square feet.
From a practical perspective, that’s the difference between having a single, narrow lane down the center of your RV and having enough space to set down your yoga mat in the morning. The number may seem small, but that increase in space allows for more interior features like the space for a king-sized bed, a convertible dinette, or theater seating across from the entertainment center.

Let’s take a closer look at four of our favorite class B+ RVs.
Thor Compass 23TW
RV Specs
- Length: 23’7”
- Sleeping Capacity: 3
- Number of Slide-outs: 1
With a nearly full-length slide-out on the driver’s side, the Thor Compass 23TW offers a ton in a very compact package that’s built on the Ford Transit chassis. It’s the only RV on this list under 25 feet, giving you ultimate flexibility to hit campgrounds with strict size restrictions.
That slide-out features a 68” Dream dinette but also hosts the main sleeping area – a 60” x 74” RV queen bed that flips up and turns into a cushioned seating area during the day. It also features a privacy curtain that allows you to section off that master sleeping area from the rest of the coach.
What catches my eye about this all-wheel-drive motorhome is its boondocking capability. With a 4,000-watt onboard gas generator and a 100-watt solar panel with a charge controller, you can enjoy off-grid camping when the campgrounds are booked.

Winnebago View 24D
RV Specs
- Length: 25’6”
- Sleeping Capacity: 4
- Number of Slide-outs: 1
Built on the Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter chassis, the Winnebago View 24D is the ideal compact motorhome for small families. The main sleeping area is a 60” x 75” queen Murphy bed that converts to a sofa during the day and has a removable pedestal table for dining, card games, or any other purpose you can dream up.
The secondary sleeping area is the 49” x 75” cabover bunk. In addition, the U-shaped dinette also converts into a bed that measures 42” x 79”, creating a third sleeping area. The driver’s side features a nearly full-length slide-out to provide plenty of floor space and just enough room to walk around the Murphy bed when it’s folded down.
Opposite the dinette, the kitchen features laminate countertops and a double sink with two sink covers to maximize counterspace for prepping and cleaning up after meals. But what catches my eye the most about this floorplan is the fact that Winnebago didn’t skimp on the details.
From an upgraded Oxygenics showerhead to the heated power control cab seats, this class B+ RV is built to provide luxury and convenience.

Leisure Travel Unity Murphy Bed Lounge
RV Specs
- Length: 25’1”
- Sleeping Capacity: 2
- Number of Slide-outs: 1
Murphy beds are all the rage for the most luxurious Class B+ RVS right now, but few compare to the reimagined design featured in this Leisure Travel Murphy Bed Lounge motorhome. Completely redesigned, this patented Leisure Lounge system maximizes the versatility of a compact motorhome during the day and at night.
To keep the floorplan open and spacious, the lounge system sets up dual reclining chairs during the day. Each chair boasts a powered footrest and upgraded head support. They both face a large panoramic window and an updated dinette table.
When it’s time to turn in for the night, the system seamlessly converts into a 65” x 74” bed with adjustable headrests. That’s nearly a king-sized bed in a motorhome that barely measures over 25 feet in length, which is possible because of the driver’s side slide-out.

Tiffin Wayfarer 25TW
RV Specs
- Length: 25’8”
- Sleeping Capacity: 6
- Number of Slide-outs: 1
If you need versatility, look no further than the Tiffin Wayfarer. This model actually has four available floorplans, but the 25TW strikes me as the most flexible because of its convertible rear sleeping area.
You’ll have the option of deploying two 32” x 76” twin beds or converting the entire rear of the coach into a single king-sized bed. Plus, you’ll have the 49” x 78” cabover bunk and the 52” tri-fold sofa as additional sleeping areas.
If you’re traveling as a couple, however, the cabover bunk can be upgraded to an optional entertainment center. The sofa can also be upgraded to 50” reclining theater seating to give you a comfortable place to enjoy your chosen entertainment.
Built on a Mercedes-Benz®® chassis, the Wayfarer is designed for comfortable travel. With features like the SumoSprings® Ride Assist System and a BigFoot® Hydraulic Leveling System, you’ll love driving and setting up this RV just as much as you enjoy lounging inside.

Are There Downsides to Class B+ RVs?
We’ve mentioned the benefits of Class B+ RVs: luxury amenities, more interior space, and improved gas mileage over larger RVs. Compared to standard Class B RVs, they generally offer more space because of the presence of at least one slide-out.
Compared to Class C RVs, they offer better fuel economy and more maneuverability. But those positives do come at a cost. Fortunately, the average prices of Class B+ RVs also find a healthy middle ground between Class C and Class B designs. The models we’ve highlighted above range from the mid-80,000s to the mid-160,000s.
